Last week I collected seeds of Allium altaicum in my garden, and today they were archived.
Allium altaicum is the wild ancestor of welsh onion, and will interbreed freely.
It will also cross with ordinary onion, but the offsprings will generally be sterile.
To avoid hybridisation I cut all flowers on my welsh onions this year.
I didn’t care about the potato onions and walking onions, since it might make
interesting offsprings, and because of the sterility of the offsprings it will exclude
itself from future generations.
Have a nice day,
