Last two nights we had a touch of frost, as seen in part of the winter squash leaf in front of the photo. It is a Turk’s Turban, volunteering from last year. Our dahlia was not affected, meaning it has been a very slight touch of frost. I have cut the tops of rootbeets, protected them from hungry moles with wiremesh and supplied them with a protecting “hat” – the dried tops of radish and a wooden board on top to let off the rain. When winter gets colder I can make the protection thicker, but I expect than to be a january problem.
